The vessel, like the rest of its 18 sisterships, was intended to monitor disturbances in the acoustic, electromagnetic, electric, and magnetic fields of surface ships and submarines. From 1971 to 1994 they were built in Zelenodolsk.
SFP 511 was commissioned in 1985. Vessels of this type were equipped with all kinds of modern equipment. In order not to interfere with ultra-sensitive equipment, a special room with a noise-absorbing coating was arranged on the ship. This box housed a diesel generator with a closed cooling system. For the fast complex processing of a large amount of data, a powerful computer was used for the first time in the fleet.

Built in Leningrad in 1975, the vessel with a displacement of 4,072 tons is actively operated as part of the Northern Fleet. Most often, the Pamir rescue tug is involved in ensuring the grouping of ships in the Kara Sea. The combination of diverse forces of the army and navy regularly conducts exercises to ensure the safety of scientific stations and oil production facilities located in the Arctic region. The tugboat Pamir is part of a permanent search and rescue team.
The creation of boats of this series was the idea of designers to build ships for various purposes on the same technological basis. Built in 1978, the RVK 615 was designed to provide diving operations in naval bases at depths of up to 45 meters.

The raid diving boat was equipped with all the necessary equipment for divers to dive to the maximum depth at any time of the day. The boat had underwater welding cutting equipment and a variety of hydraulic tools. A decompression chamber was installed on board. If necessary, it could carry up to 40 passengers.
