The most beautiful child in the Third Reich was a Jewish woman

What is true, at first the Germans did not understand what nationality they put the baby on the poster. And then they simply refused to admit their mistake.

Baby Hessie Taft got on Nazi posters without the knowledge of her parents. A photo of a six-month-old girl from a Jewish family was sent to the competition by a photographer who shot Hessie with her parents for family pictures.

When the mother and father of the baby saw that their six-month-old daughter was recognized as the “ideal Aryan child”, the poor parents almost fainted. The family rushed to the photographer for clarification, but he did not feel guilty: the master decided in such a simple way to prove to the leaders of the Third Reich that their Nazi racial theory was complete nonsense.

Однако семья Тафт не была настроена столь легкомысленно. Супруги переживали, что если нацисты поймут, какая кровь течет по венам у «идеального немецкого ребенка», им всем несдобровать. А потому семья долгое время жила уединено. Мать даже лишний раз старалась не гулять с дочерью — чтоб соседи не опознали в малышке ребенка с плакатов. К счастью, вожди Третьего рейха не поняли ошибку (а, может, просто не придали случаю огласке) — и семью Тафт не коснулись антисемитские законы.

Интересно, что нацистская пропаганда не раз допускала подобного рода оплошности. Так, несколькими годами позже рассмотренного случая немецкие газеты опубликовали снимок «идеального немецкого солдата». Все бы хорошо, только на фото был изображен симпатичный… еврей! Немцы признали ошибку, но солдата не казнили — его попросту уволили со службы. Таким было распоряжение Гитлера.

Малышка Хесси Тафт попала на нацистские плакаты без ведома родителей.

Когда мама и папа малышки увидели, что «идеальным арийским ребенком» признана их шестимесячная дочь, бедные родители едва не лишились сознания. Семья бросилась за разъяснениями к фотографу, однако тот не чувствовал за собой вины: мастер решил таким нехитрым способом доказать вождям Третьего рейха, что их нацистская расовая теория — сплошная ерунда.

However, the Taft family was not so frivolous. The spouses were worried that if the Nazis understood what kind of blood flows through the veins of the “ideal German child”, they will all be unhappy. Therefore, the family lived in seclusion for a long time. The mother even once again tried not to walk with her daughter - so that the neighbors would not recognize the child from the posters in the baby. Fortunately, the leaders of the Third Reich did not understand the mistake (or maybe they simply did not make the case public) - and the anti-Semitic laws did not affect the Taft family.
