Created in 1701 by Danish and German artisans, on behalf of the King of Prussia, Frederick I, this beautiful creation stayed in several mansions until it finally found its permanent home in Tsarskoe Selo, not far from St. Petersburg, being presented to Peter I. The Amber Room became a real pearl among the considerable treasures of Russia, for which it was nicknamed the eighth wonder of the world. Mirrors, amber panels and gold decorations were only part of the decor of the room.

During the removal of all valuables from the Catherine Palace in 1941 , it was decided to leave the main part of the exhibited items, together with the famous room, due to their fragility. Expecting that the Germans would not attach any importance to the hall, decorated so ugly and distinctive from the rest, the expensive walls were plastered with tapestries with funny drawings. But contrary to all hopes, the Russian masterpiece was taken to Germany.

Being recreated in one of the Koenigsberg palaces, the room was presented to the public eye. But already in 1945 , immediately after the capture of Germany by the Russian army, Hitler issued an order to transport the room to one of the secret warehouses. The last official document that mentioned the amber room was a document indicating the delivery of important luggage to the railway platform.

And just how did you manage to lose an entire room, littered with amber and gold jewelry? Some are sure that she is still in one of the many secret shelters, somewhere below, under the city streets, while others consider her sunk, put to the bottom along with the ship. At the end of the war, they repeatedly tried to find her, sending another expedition to explore the dubious grottoes, reservoirs and quarries of Europe.

But not a single attempt to identify at least some traces was unsuccessful. Among the seekers there was even an opinion about the destruction of the room, which the government kept silent about. Not so long ago, this work of art was re-restored. And in order to keep the interest of the public warmed up all the time, parts of a genuine room shrouded in a mist of mystery are periodically discovered here and there.

One German employee, for clarity, took with him a piece of mosaic, so, as a keepsake, preparing an exhibit for transportation in 1945. With complete certainty, it can only be argued that the person who discovered the treasure will provide a comfortable life for many of his descendants.
